Hidalgo Mora Tours is a Golfito fishing charter run by a captain and crew who were born in Golfito and grew up on the Golfo Dulce. This is how one boat, The Magic I, became our business.
The Beginning
The story of Hidalgo Mora Tours begins the way all great ocean stories do — with a boy, a line, and the vast, breathing Pacific. Growing up in Golfito, Costa Rica, founder Harry Hidalgo Mora spent every moment he could on the water. Before he was ten, he could read the currents of the Golfo Dulce better than most adults. Before he was twenty, he had caught every major species the South Pacific had to offer.
What started as pure passion quickly evolved into purpose. Harry saw how visitors to Golfito struggled to access the world-class fishing that locals took for granted. The knowledge, the access, the timing — all locked away in the heads of fishermen who'd never thought to share it commercially. He decided to change that.
Building a Legacy
In 2022, Harry launched the first Hidalgo Mora charter with a single boat, one mate, and an unshakeable belief that Golfito deserved to be recognized as one of the world's premier fishing destinations. He was right. Word spread quickly. Visiting anglers began making the journey to this quiet corner of Costa Rica specifically to fish with Harry and his crew.
Over the following years, the operation grew — carefully, deliberately — always prioritizing quality over quantity. Family members joined the crew. Hidalgo Mora Tours became a name synonymous with excellence in Golfito's fishing community.
